Rebuilding the Castle of Meudon?

This is the goal of our association, which attempts to draw the attention of the public as well as of political and administrative authorities on the importance of this area, in the vicinity of the castle of Versailles, and in the same time tries to instigate various projects :

* First of all, reorganizing the site of the terrace, and conducting an archaeological dig for the first time in the history of this site.

* Rebuilding the New Castle of Meudon, retained for 50%.

* Rebuilding the Old castle of Meudon, one of the masterpieces created during the reign of King Louis XIV - most of the stones being still there, buried under the terrace ;

* Also restoring all the gardens of the Royal Domain and their hydraulic system of fountains.

There was a castle in Meudon?

The castle of Meudon is not just another castle:

* This castle was owned by Abel Servien, the Superintendent of Finance of the Sun King ... just as Fouquet owned Vaux-le-Vicomte !

* This castle belonged to the Marquis de Louvois, one of the King's ministers.

* It was acquired by Louis XIV himself in order to accommodate his son, Monseigneur, also named "Le Grand Dauphin".

* Its gardens where designed and created by ... Andre Le Nostre !

* The chapel and the New Castle where designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the famous architect of Versailles.

* This location is still waiting to unveil perhaps one of the best views on Paris.

* Finally, something hard to believe: all the old castle stones still exist, buried only one meter under the lawn of the terrace !
With efforts and time, rebuilding the castle is clearly possible. It would be one of the main projects of French heritage conservation of the twenty-first century.

This project is not only a dream, it is perfectly serious and it will be carried through.
